The San Ramon Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 2025 Business and Community Award winners—extraordinary individuals, businesses, and organizations whose leadership, innovation, and service continue to strengthen our community. The honorees will be celebrated at the Annual Business and Community Awards Dinner on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon.
“These awards shine a light on those helping shape San Ramon’s future,” said Danielle Cook, President & CEO of the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce. “Each recipient reflects our Chamber’s mission of connecting for success—through leadership, innovation, and community involvement.”
For more than 40 years, these annual awards have honored those who go above and beyond to make San Ramon a better place to live, work, and connect. This year’s recipients exemplify collaboration, creativity, and compassion in action.
2025 Award Honorees
Citizen of the Year: Alec Hurd
For over two decades, Alec has led Scouts of America Troop 834, mentoring youth and adults through hands-on experiences that build character, leadership, and teamwork. His dedication extends to the San Ramon Education Foundation, the Meridian District, and the City’s Climate Action Committee—making Alec a true pillar of community service.
Business Person of the Year: Danielle Croghan, TheyMade
TheyMade brings innovation and creativity to San Ramon’s local economy through its one-of-a-kind DIY apparel experience. From screen printing and tie-dye to makers nights and summer camps, Danielle has built a space where creativity thrives. Her commitment to mentorship, sustainable practices, and community partnerships inspires both entrepreneurs and families.
Community Educator of the Year: Jennifer Tejada, Diablo Valley College
With more than 30 years in higher education, Jennifer helped grow the DVC San Ramon campus into a thriving hub for over 3,000 students. As a faculty member and later Dean, she’s shaped the lives of countless learners while continuing to serve the community through Leadership San Ramon and the Chamber.
Employee of the Year: James Spielvogel, City of San Ramon
James is known for his professionalism, teamwork, and outstanding customer service. His behind-the-scenes dedication—especially during the Chamber’s Hootenanny event—shows his commitment to making every project a success. James brings creativity, reliability, and a positive attitude to everything he does.
Green Company of the Year: Stanford Health Care – Tri-Valley
Stanford Health Care leads by example in sustainability—procuring 100% renewable energy, reducing nitrous oxide emissions by 96%, and diverting nearly half of its waste from landfills. Its environmental programs, education initiatives, and national recognition set the standard for sustainable healthcare in the region.
Nonprofit of the Year: Fostering Wishes
This 100% volunteer-run nonprofit dedicates 98% of its funds directly to foster youth. Through programs like the Holiday Gift Drive, Duffle Bag Program, Teen Empowerment, and Trade School Scholarships, Fostering Wishes provides comfort, confidence, and opportunity to thousands of children each year.
Educator of the Year (SRVUSD): Sandy Kontilis, Pine Valley Middle School
Sandy has built a student-centered culture rooted in academic excellence and emotional growth. Her leadership inspires teachers, students, and families alike—creating a school environment where every student can thrive and feel supported.
Ambassador of the Year: Robert Downum, Liberty Tax Service
Robert’s enthusiasm, energy, and leadership make him an invaluable part of the Chamber. Always ready to lend a hand, he helps new members feel welcome, ensures events run smoothly, and fosters lasting connections across San Ramon’s business community.
Teen Citizen of the Year: Danya Prakash, California High School
Danya founded Humanities in Focus, a youth-led nonprofit advocating for neurodiverse students and promoting drug safety awareness. Her efforts raised over $400,000 for autism education, distributed 2,000 Narcan kits, and created platforms that give voice to underrepresented youth.
